Here are a few things that we have been up to in the past week:
We're on our way to a super hero Birthday party! These are two very excited little girls! The wigs were their own addition to their costumes. On Saturday Josh took Elise apple picking. We now have more apples than energy to deal with them. Luckily these girls love gobbling them up every chance they get. The rest are being chopped and frozen to be thrown in all the cakes and muffins and pancakes that I will eventually be less over heated to make. Someday soon I will be thankful for them. Lately Elise has been eager to learn anything she can. Tonight at supper she learned all about the letter "P." Everyday when Josh comes home for lunch he and Elise take turns asking each other how they spent their morning. Josh's answer varies from day to day, but Elise's is almost always the same. "I played" is about as much information as she's usually willing to disclose. Today, however her answer was a little different. "I played with my friend" was her reply, to which Josh responded "and who is your friend?" "Tori is my friend" she said cheerfully. How lucky she is to have a sister and a friend all rolled into one! A couple of months ago I caught Elise attempting to potty train Tori. I walked into the bathroom and there was Elise sitting on the toilet and Tori on the little potty chair both as happy as can be. Tori's joy quickly wore off when she began to get tackled, have her pants and diaper ripped off, and get dragged into the bathroom everytime her sister needed to go. I, of course, stepped in and told Elise she could only teach Tori to use the potty first thing in the morning, and only with my help. And so each morning we have been taking the girls out of their pyjamas and sending them off to the bathroom to do their business (or at least try.) well, yesterday Tori peed in the potty and has proceeded to do so three times since! I'm so proud and yet so unable to accept the fact that I'm suddenly diving into the world of potty training all over again! Yikes! Now that the weather is a little cooler our front curtains have been open wide! Letting the light shine in without also letting in unbearable heat. This window has seen a lot of attention today. The younger of these two has been a little under the weather. She has a cold, is working on growing some more teeth, and has such bad diaper rash that the moment she fills her diaper she runs to me saying "Owie, owie, owie" then screams until the clean-up is complete. It is heartbreaking and frustrating and incredibly tiring all at the same time. Despite all these woes she has been finding all kinds of ways to keep herself occupied and distracted from all there is to complain about. Here are a few of the ways she filled her day today. 1. She climbed up onto the dinner table and threw salt everywhere like it was rice at a wedding. 2. While her sister was in the bathroom (pooping,) she climbed up to the sink grabbed a brand new tube of toothpaste and threw it into the toilet. 3. Napped for a total of ten minutes. 4. Emptied every box, bag, basket, drawer and cupboard she could get her hands on. 5. Smushed a doughnut into the living room window. 6. Turned a book into confetti and threw it everywhere like rice at a wedding. 7. Sat in the dogs's water bowl. 8. Wiped her nose on my pants every chance she got. I can't keep up! If it wasn't for this big snot faced smile I'd be ready to ship her off to the zoo! On another note, we have a visitor who has taken up residence right outside our front door. Everytime I knock her web down she rebuilds it in record time. I don't usually mind spiders but if she comes in my house I think I will panic. She's about the size of my thumb nail! |
